A one-day practical course focused on the management of surgical diseases of the carpal and tarsal joint. Arthrodesis and ligamentous repairs/replacements will be the main topic of the practical exercises.



Course schedule:

09:00-10:15 Lecture: Carpus, tarsus – anatomy, surgical considerations, instability, fractures, radiocarpal bone, accessory carpal bone, central tarsal bona, talus, calcaneus, common calcaneal tendon suture techniques

10:15-10:30 Coffee

10:30-12:15 Lecture: Current trends in carpal and tarsal arthrodesis, ligament prosthesis, tendon suturing, decision making

12:15-13:15 Lunch (included)

13:15-17:00 Wet-Lab: Pancarpal arthrodesis, ligament prosthesis – screws, augmentation of collateral ligaments with synthetic prosthesis, pantarsal arthrodesis, calcaneotibial screw placement, common calcaneal tendon suture techniques
